Therapy Modalities
Art Therapy
Art therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses the creative process to help people explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Art therapy can be used to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also be used to improve self-esteem, communication skills, and coping mechanisms. Art therapy is a non-verbal form of communication, so it can be a helpful way for people to express themselves if they have difficulty talking about their feelings.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a therapeutic approach that helps people to identify and change their negative thoughts and behaviors. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected. CBT therapy helps people to learn how to identify and challenge their negative thoughts, and to develop more helpful and realistic thoughts.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a therapeutic approach that helps people to manage their emotions and behaviors. DBT is based on the idea that we all have two opposing forces within us: our need for acceptance and our need for change. DBT teaches people skills to help them balance these two forces and to live a more fulfilling life.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a therapeutic approach that helps people to process and heal from trauma. EMDR is based on the idea that trauma can get stuck in our nervous system, and that it can be released through eye movements. EMDR therapy involves having the client focus on a traumatic memory while simultaneously moving their eyes back and forth. This process helps to desensitize the client to the memory and to reprocess it in a healthy way.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that is considered the gold standard treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). ERP works by exposing people to the things they fear and teaching them to resist the urge to engage in their compulsions. This process can help people to learn that their intrusive thoughts are not harmful and that they can tolerate the anxiety that comes with them.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is a therapeutic approach that helps people to identify, understand, and heal the different parts of themselves. IFS is based on the idea that we all have multiple parts, or subpersonalities, that make up our personality. These parts can be positive or negative, and they can be helpful or unhelpful. IFS therapy helps people to learn how to communicate with and heal their different parts, so that they can live a more integrated and fulfilling life.
Somatic Experiencing (SE)
SE is a therapeutic approach that helps people to heal from trauma by working with the body. SE is based on the idea that trauma can get stored in the body, and that it can be released through physical sensations. SE therapy involves helping the client to become aware of their physical sensations and to work with them in a safe and supportive way.
