If you're looking for an experienced therapist in St. Louis or a compassionate therapist specializing in eating disorders, trauma, DID, dissociation, anxiety, depression, OCD, or body image concerns, or you're in the right place. I believe healing happens when people feel safe enough to understand their stories, reconnect with themselves, and discover that lasting change is possible.
I am Salicia Mazero, MA, LPC, SEP, ATR, CEDS-C, the Owner, and Clinical Supervisor of Creating Your Journey, LLC. With more than 13 years of experience working across multiple levels of eating disorder treatment, I have dedicated my career to helping children, adolescents and adults heal from eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and the effects of overwhelming life experiences. I earned dual bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Art from Millersville University before completing my Master of Arts in Art Therapy at Drexel University, where I developed a strong foundation in integrating creativity, neuroscience, and psychotherapy.
As a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Consultant (CEDS-C) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), I integrate evidence-based therapies with body-based approaches that support nervous system regulation and long-term healing. My work draws from Somatic Experiencing (SE), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and art therapy to help clients move beyond symptom management and address the underlying experiences that contribute to emotional distress.
Prior to opening Creating Your Journey in 2016, I worked across multiple levels of eating disorder treatment, gaining extensive experience supporting individuals with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED, compulsive exercise, and body image concerns. Today, I continue to provide specialized outpatient therapy while leading a team of clinicians dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care throughout Missouri and Pennsylvania.
As the Clinical Supervisor of Creating Your Journey, I provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and specialized eating disorder training to our provisionally licensed therapists. My goal is to ensure every client receives high-quality, evidence-based care while supporting the professional growth of the next generation of clinicians. This collaborative approach allows our therapists to provide individualized treatment while benefiting from ongoing consultation and the shared expertise of a practice dedicated to excellence in eating disorder and trauma recovery.
Beyond my clinical work, I am passionate about advancing the field through education, consultation, and advocacy. I serve as a Certified Eating Disorder Consultant, providing supervision and consultation to clinicians pursuing their CEDS certification, and regularly present nationally on eating disorders, trauma, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and art therapy. I am also the Founding President of networkED, a nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to eating disorder education and fostering collaboration among professionals.
At the heart of everything I do is the belief that healing happens through connection. Whether I'm working with clients, supervising therapists, consulting with professionals, or teaching clinicians across the country, my goal remains the same—to create spaces where people feel seen, understood, and empowered to build lives rooted in authenticity, resilience, and hope.
I provide in-person therapy in St. Louis, Missouri, telehealth appointments throughout Missouri, clinical supervision for provisionally licensed therapists, and consultation for clinicians pursuing their CEDS certification nationally.

What is Somatic Experiencing (SE)?
Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. Rather than only talking about difficult experiences, we also pay attention to how your nervous system holds stress and work together to restore a greater sense of regulation, safety, and resilience.
Do you offer EMDR therapy?
Yes. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals process traumatic experiences, reduce distressing symptoms, and develop healthier beliefs about themselves.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a compassionate, evidence-based therapy that helps you understand the different "parts" of yourself. Rather than fighting against anxiety, perfectionism, or inner criticism, IFS helps clients build self-compassion and heal the experiences that shaped those protective patterns.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I am currently in-network with Cigna and Aetna.
If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, I can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to learn more about your out-of-network benefits.

How do I know if we're a good fit?
Finding the right therapist is an important part of the healing process. If you're looking for a therapist who specializes in eating disorders, trauma, OCD, body image, or nervous system-informed care, I'd be honored to support you. If together we determine another therapist on our team would be a better fit, I'll help connect you with the clinician who best meets your needs.
